May 2023 Community Engagement Meeting Recap
Every quarter, UC Davis Aggie Square hosts community engagement meetings on a variety of topics including workforce development, youth opportunities, benefits for local residents, businesses and more. We strive to make the events as informative and engaging as possible. If you could not attend, we hope this recap provides a general overview of all that took place.
Aggie Square Subcontractor Bidding and UC Davis Employment Opportunities
On May 11, 2023 we hosted a community engagement meeting to answer questions, share information about the project’s progress and highlight information related to subcontractor bidding and UC Davis employment opportunities.
Meeting highlights included:
- An overview and general update on Aggie Square, including a timeline of the project so far
- An update on the Community Benefits Partnership Agreement, including affordable housing and local business connections.
- Subcontractor opportunities, including local spend and an upcoming public infrastructure bid
- Job and contracting opportunities, including with UC Davis and UC Davis Health, Sacramento Works and La Familia.

Subcontractor opportunities
Aggie Square’s general contractor identified over $920,000 in miscellaneous local spend in target zip codes and $70,000,000 in regional contractor spend. In addition, a $6 million public infrastructure bid, including landscaping, asphalt and streets will be available through Whiting-Turner in late summer 2023.
